Subject: Uzzells of Wayne County

Elisha Uzzell, Jr., son of the Elisha Uzzell and Phereby, came to Muhlenberg County KY bef 1798.  He was appointed sheriff in 1817 and served before that as clerk of the court.  I have almost a complete listing of his descendants and would gladly share if anyone there is interested.  Elisha suddenly disappeared in 1824 after selling some property to his son (?) Calvin Uzzell.  His wife Chelley is listed on the 1830 and 1840 censuses but Elisha was not heard of again.  It is thought that he was going to Tennessee to check out land he bought from a Jernigan in Wayne County.  Betty Fisher Cox  bettycox43@newwavecomm.net

I can't answer your question about Thomas Uzzell and the Revolutionary War, but I would like to know more about the Uzzell Reunions. My g-g-grandfather was Major Uzzell Jr., who left North Carolina between 1851-1859 and moved his family to Montgomery County, Texas. I would love to be on the family mailing list.
