Subject: Garland Genealogy in Wayne Co, NC

My names is Bobby M Edwards, President Emeritus of the Garland Family Research Association (GFRA) that was begun in 1926 to capture all data possible on families with the surname Garland(and associated families).  We are incorporated in the State of NC and our database now contains 132, 000 names; 48, 000 marriages and 75 0000 sets of notes.    We have a DNA Project and have established that seven Garland males  who were in East TN and Western NC have lineage back to a Peter Garland of Isle of Wight Co, VA and his second spouse, an unknown Grace.  He left a Will which named his children  the amount of land (and where)  he left each.

At the current moment we are concentrating on his son, John Garland, Sr who married 1st Mary Joyner and 2nd a Martha,  and his son, John Garland, Jr, both of whom lived progressively thru Greene County and then Wayne County. NC   John Garland, Jr married 1st Mary Innes, daughter of  Colonel James Innes and 2nd to Elizabeth White, daughter of Robert and Elinor Hope White.  After the death of John Garland, Jr  in 1806, she married Drury J Aldridge.

John Garland, Jr and Elizabeth White had children, Kinchen Garland; Sarah W Garland; Rufus King Garland; Elizabeth John Garland; Elinor Garland and John Garland, all except the last, John Garland, married and had families.

John Garland, Jr had a half-brother, Joseph Garland, born ca 1705, Isle of Wight Co, NC, an died after 1771 in Greene Co, NC.  Land transactions whether for Isle of Wight Co, VA , Greene Co, NC and Wayne Co, NC , by have the same descriptive locations.  We have purchased all the volumes of genealogy for Isle of Wight Co, VA and numerous CD records from the US Genealogical Publishing Company and have exhausted these kind of sources.  We are appealing to a number of known and respected websites for any assistance, or, clues, that might be of assistance to us
